Textile Arts Summer Camp
An educational and interactive week long day camp for kids ages 9-12! Through hands-on activities, games, and mini-lessons, campers discover what goes on to make the clothing we wear, create textile art using traditional techniques, and learn to be fashion activists in their communities and beyond.
A collaborative project by Alice Tsibulsky and Caitie Wagenknecht, Adore! Textile Arts hosts workshops and camps that address the environmental and social consequences of the fashion and textile industries. We aim to spread awareness about some important issues surrounding the clothes we wear, while still incorporating creative and artistic activities that spark wonder and curiosity.
Each day of the camp has activities that pertain to a specific theme, including the life cycle of our clothing, environmental pollution, garment workers, and recycling and upcycling. We discuss these topics through journaling prompts, role-playing games and mini lessons to discover a garment’s journey around the world and the role that clothing plays in our lives.
